Even though the Pauri district has an adequate network of government schools, most have minimal infrastructure and need significant improvements.
Key concerns include: cramped classrooms, lack of building maintenance, inadequate furniture, poorly stocked libraries, neglected sanitary systems and an absence of technical support. In 2016 we launched initiatives to address these issues. Our mission is to make school environment more engaging and productive, where students enjoy learning and look forward to going.
Learning Tools
After conducting a careful analysis of each school’s needs, audio-visual aids, computers and library books were donated to pilot schools using limited funds.We expanded our outreach when it became clear that our efforts had impact
Toilets
Infrastructure support was given to schools for general repair and maintenance of facilities. Additionally, under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and the help of our sponsors, we are also setting up or upgrading toilets in schools.
Classrooms
During our recent visits, Principals of various schools reported problems including inadequate roofing, foundations, missing windows, severe water leakages, and inadequate furniture or plumbing. They sought our help to improve the state of the existing infrastructure.
No child should be deprived of education due to poverty.
